The ongoing pandemic has taken a toll on employees who typically separate work life from home life. Now, every day feels like Groundhog Day. Business leaders sometimes forget that the faces on the other side of a Zoom call are not just employees, but real people with lives that extend beyond their screens. Employees must now balance work with kids learning from home, an unemployed or underemployed spouse, a family member stricken with the coronavirus, and other challenges. CISOs never imagined they would be responsible for employee mental health; however, cybersecurity vigilance suffers when employees grow weary or complacent with their surroundings. CISOs however don’t shy away from problems and instead found creative ways to keep employees engaged and alert.
CISO Street recently moderated a virtual CISO panel and asked panelists about their perspectives on current cyber trends and challenges. In this video, Stephenie Southard, CISO for BCU and Mike Davis, CISO for Alliant Group share their insight on how they’re supporting their employees and the importance of empathy as many people continue to work from home.
